The IRCC finally increased the draw size to 3,900 in the latest Express Entry Round, which was held on September 5, 2018. Candidates who were in the Express Entry pool with a CRS score of 440 and higher were invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada. Despite the increase in the draw size, the CRS cut-off score is stubbornly holding above the 440 level, where it has remained throughout 2018.
Our firm anticipates the draw size to increase to 4,000 by the end of the year, which will support lower CRS scores in the 435 - 440 range. Hopefully this will happen in the next draw, with the IRCC holding this draw size for 5 draws. As we move into the fall months, we anticipate the CRS score to decrease into the 430 - 440 range, but not below this level.
In 2018, 85,000 people are expected to be selected in Express Entry system, under the Federal Skilled Worker program.
The ideal candidate under Express Entry has a score of at least 430+. To calculate your Express Entry score, use our Express Entry CRS Calculator.
