On April 11, 2018, the IRCC invited 3,500 candidates to apply for permanent residence who were in the Express Entry pool and had a CRS score of 444+.
The IRCC increased the draw size to 3,500 for this draw which is much welcomed news. With larger draw sizes, the CRS score will decrease further as they are grabbing further down the list of potential candidates, who are ranked by their score. Should the draw sizes remain at 3,500 (or increase) for the next 3 to 5 draws, we will see the CRS scores lower below 440, possibly into the 425 to 435 range.
It was around the same time last year, between May and June, when the draw sizes increased above 3,500 and the CRS score made a new low of 413. A combination of higher draw sizes (3,300+) and fewer PNP candidate in the pool will help lower the CRS score further as we approach the summer.
In 2018, 85,000 people are expected to be selected in Express Entry system, under the Federal Skilled Worker program.
The ideal candidate under Express Entry has a score of at least 415+. To calculate your Express Entry score, use our Express Entry CRS Calculator.
