Today, the IRCC issued 3,750 ITAs to candidates who were in the Express Entry pool with a CRS score of 440 and higher. The CRS cut-off score is still stubbornly holding above the 440 level, where it has remained over this past year.

This is now the fifth draw in a row with a size of 3,750. Our firm anticipates the IRCC to increase the draw size to 4,000 in the next draw, and hold this draw size for 5 draws.  As we move into the Fall months, we anticipate the CRS score to decre...

The processing time for a Spousal Sponsorship application is lengthy: between 9 and 13 months.  With this being the case, it is extremely important to have it done correctly with a strong application being submitted to convince the government the relationsh...

On July 25, 2018 the IRCC issued 3,750 ITAs (invitations to apply for permanent residence) to candidates who were in the Express Entry pool with a CRS score of 441 and higher.

The IRCC has changed its strategy on the Express Entry draw this year.  In previous years, the draw sizes were random which led to larger swings in the CRS cut-off selection score. At the beginning of 2018, the IRCC implemented a more methodical approach where draw sizes are kept the same for 4 or...

On June 25, 2018 the IRCC invited 3,750 candidates to apply for permanent residence who were in the Express Entry pool with a CRS score of 442 and higher.

As expected, the CRS score declined from the previous draw.  As we move into July / August, we anticipate the CRS score to decrease into the 430  - 440 range.  The IRCC is likely to keep the draw size at 3,750 for a few more draws and perhaps increase to 4,000 for another 3 or 4 draws.  Should this occur, it will support lower C...

On June 13, 2018 the IRCC invited 3,750 candidates to apply for permanent residence who were in the Express Entry pool with a CRS score of 451 and higher.

The increase in the draw size from 3,500 to 3,750 is welcomed news, however, the increase in the CRS score in not.  It appears there were a large number (2,596) of candidates in the pool with scores between 451 - 600.  The majority of these candidates are  in Canada working on a work permit, which is the only realistic way to sc...

If you find yourself in this situation, don't panic.  When your PR Card expires, this does not mean your status as a PR (permanent resident) expires.   You will have PR until the formal process of revoking your PR is initiated. Depending on your situation, there are different options available to remedy the problem.  The choice in strategy will be dependent on several factors:

  • If your PR Card has already expired

  • Where you are currently located:  inside Canada or outsi...

The IRCC kept the draw size at 3,500 again for this draw, which is the 4th draw in a row of this size.  We expect the next draw size to increase to 3,750+, and repeat for 3 or 4 draws.  With these larger draw sizes, the CRS score will decrease further as candidates lower down on the list will be selected. Our firm expects to see the CRS sco...

The IRCC has kept the draw size at 3,500 again for this draw and will most likely have another 2 or 3 draws of similar size or larger.  With these larger draw sizes, the CRS score will decrease further as candidates lower down on the list are being selected. Our firm expected to see CRS scores below 440 this draw, but it stubbornly held the...

The Spousal Sponsorship application process is a daunting and time consuming task.  It is very administrative for the most part, but can also be overwhelming and challenging should a case not be straight-forward (previous marriages, arranged marriages, marriages less than 2 years, children from previous marriages, common-law relationships) .  Typical spousal applications are between 120 - 150 pages, after including all government forms and accompanying evidentiary documents.  If documents are r...
